U.S. Post Office (third) and John W. McCormack Federal Building is built.

Architect: Cram & Ferguson. With James Wetmore. Designed in the Art Deco style, the white granite and limestone building is located at 5 Post Office Square. The building consists of one 22-story tower and flanking 17-story towers. It  is named for the South Boston resident and former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in and subsequently used by the Boston Municipal Court.
